Early Assessment

Identification & Assessment

At Whitworth, we aim to ensure that students who are thought to have a SEND need are identified and assessed as early as possible. On entry to Year 7, all students are tested through GL Assessments via teacher assessments.

If your child comes to us with a SEND need, support plan or Education, Health and Care plan they will undergo additional standardised testing to ensure that the provision that we are providing for your child is appropriate.

The results of these tests, along with their KS2 data and information gathered through the transition process, will determine the level of initial intervention.

Any support, guidance or intervention given may be short, medium or long term, depending on the level of need.
