KS3  

All children study Art and Design Technology on a carousel rotation at KS3.  

Each child will complete a 10-week block for each of the four key disciplines, in each year group.  

  • Food Technology 
  • Art and Design  
  • History of Art 
  • Product Design   

Year 7  

Food Technology: Healthy Café Project (Cupcake Focus)  

As part of the project children will also carry out practical lessons preparing: Salsa, Cous Cous Salad, Garden Focaccia, Eat Well Pizza (in addition to the Cupcakes) 

Art and Design: Natural Forms (Observational Drawing) and Robots Project inspired by Ruth Patina  

History of Art: Puzzle Portraits inspired by Cubism  

Product Design: Food Jewellery inspired by Nikki McWilliams  

Year 8  

Food Technology: Food Choices Project (Street Food Focus) 

As part of the project children will also carry out practical lessons preparing: Salsa, Vegetarian Stir Fry, Vegetarian Bean Chilli Con Carne, Eat Well Pizza (in addition to a Street Food inspired project).  

Art and Design: North East Architecture inspired by Joseph Segaran   

History of Art: Dreamscapes Project inspired by Post Impressionism  

Product Design: Pop Art Project inspired by Pop Art Movement  

Year 9  

Food Technology: International Food (Pasta Focus)  

As part of the project children will also carry out practical lessons preparing: Salsa, Carbonara, Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza (in addition to an extra Pasta inspired project).  

Art and Design: Graffiti Project inspired by Banksy and Keith Haring    

History of Art: Manipulating Reality and Surrealism (Photography focused project)  

Product Design: Concrete Casting inspired by Fox and Ramona  

KS4    

At KS4 we offer the below courses:  

  • AQA GCSE Art Craft & Design  
  • AQA GCSE 3D Design  
  • AQA GCSE Photography  

GCSE Art Craft & Design covers two main components, through which they study across the course.  

The first component/independent project will focus on food and costal inspired art; they will then complete an externally set assignment beginning in the January of Year 11.  

GCSE 3D Design covers two main components, through which they study across the course. The first component/independent project will focus on glass and paper design and art décor; they will then complete an externally set assignment beginning in the January of Year 11. 

GCSE Photography covers two main components, through which they study across the course.  

The first component/independent project will focus on places, faces and spaces and a project around Glitch; they will then complete an externally set assignment beginning in the January of Year 11.
