‘Children at the heart of everything we do’
Special Educational Needs (SEN)
The Academy’s SEN Policy is in line with the 2001 Code of Practice and is available on request. The main emphasis in the Code is Inclusive Education.
During their time at school, many students will experience a special educational need linked to the four areas of need:
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
- Communication and Interaction
- Sensory and/or Physical Difficulties.
As a school we ensure that all students are being supported effectively through high quality provision which ensures that all children meet their full potential in all areas of life.
How are students supported?
This is individualised and depending on the individual needs of a students however it may include one or more of the following:
- Adaptive teaching within the classroom
- Reasonable adjustments
- In-class support from the SEN team
- 1:1 tuition
- Small group support
- Key adults
